I am glad one of my friends from California came across this video and shared it. Now it is my turn to hopefully pass this on so that people can see that the police at UC Davis did the proper thing when pepper spraying the students. I do not care if you are for or against the occupy movement (which seems to have slowed down and isn’t in the media anymore), the police gave multiple warnings, told the students exactly what would happen if they did not move out of the way, and shrugged off the chants of “fuck the police”. Most people only saw the pepper spray incident and automatically started calling out the police for being irrational and making the wrong decision.
When a cop stands there and tells you over and over again that if you do not move, you will be sprayed and then stood there shaking the canister for about a minute, what the hell do you think is going to happen? the protesters were obstructing the police car trying to get to the people being arrested and were not moving. the car needed to get through and thee only way was to move the students whether it was under their own power, or with a little encouragement.
I am glad the police pepper spray the students that are obstructing justice. even if it is in a peaceful way, the police have other things to do and need to move on. get out of the way, and no one will get the pepper spray.
